Have you ever talked to a friend or relative via Skype? Via webcam? Using the interwebs?
Well, that same techmology allows us to work together as musicians — as teacher and student — from literally anywhere in the world.
Many universities and conservatories make use of webcam instruction.
As an Atlanta-based pianist and teacher, I think it’s pretty amazing to be at home in the mountains of north Georgia and give a lesson to someone in Germany.
Yes, the internet is full of all kinds of craziness, but come, let us reason together. As the phoenix doth rise out of the ashes, so shall we — with piano lessons over a webcam!
All joking aside, this is a great way to have regular lessons or an occasional coaching. Maybe you’d like to brush up on a recital or competition program, or to have a freakin’ genius help you with a specific problem.
All you need is Skype (or equivalent, such as Windows Live), a webcam/computer, and a piano.
Of course, I’m available for in-person private lessons, both at home and at Kennesaw State University, where I am Artist-in-Residence.
Contact me if you’d like to work together. I’d love to hear from you.

ABOUT FRINGE
Fringe is about art—about melding music, film, and visual art to share beauty in a unique way.
Join us for a swift blend of live music performances, visual art gallery, a DJ spinning ambient and electronica, documentary-style videos of the performers and short films selected by the Atlanta Film Festival. This concert’s live performances will feature pianist Robert Henry, violinist Fia Mancini Durrett and cellist Charae Krueger playing Beethoven’s “Archduke” Piano Trio, Opus 97, and Brahms’ C Minor Piano Trio. As always, the live performances will be available for download following the concert.
This blending of art is radically different from the usual concert hall experience and ushers in a new era of the classical concert—inviting the audience to engage and truly experience this great art anew.
The 411:
The live event will begin at 8 p.m., with doors (and DJ) at 7 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to come early to mingle, take in visual art and hear the DJ. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students in advance and $20/$15 at the door (if available). For those wishing to lend more support to this worthy endeavor, “pay what you wish” tickets are offered at $25 and $50. More information about the performers and the series is available at FringeAtlanta.org
Major funding for this concert is provided by the Fulton County Commission under the guidance of the Fulton County Arts Council.

My friends over at Piano Street have posted a short interview/article about my debut recording, Twelve Nocturnes and a Waltz.
While you are there, be sure to listen to a free track from my recording: Franz Liszt’s Liebesträume.
Created in 2001, Piano Street is an amazing online resource, featuring forums, recordings, free scores, interviews and more. Special thanks to Johan at Piano Street for his support.

Join Robert Henry as he celebrates the release of his debut CD,
“TWELVE NOCTURNES AND A WALTZ”.
Robert will be performing the entire CD live in concert. The concert features Nocturnes of Chopin, Faure, Grieg, Liszt and many others, including the world premiere of Alexei Stanchinsky’s forgotten Nocturne from 1907.
As a tribute to one of his musical mentors, Robert has created his own transcription of Chet Atkins’ “Waltz for the Lonely”. The sheet music for this arrangement will be available this fall.
Special guests include Lois Reitzes (NPR Radio Personality, WABE 90.1) and Jody Reynard (nationally recognized dancer/choreographer, KSU alum).
Robert will be signing CDs following the concert.
Available now on Amazon. Also available on Itunes and other retailers in May, 2010.
On Friday, April 23, Robert will be presenting a Masterclass at KSU. It begins at 5:30.
