Faculty Trio Concert at Kennesaw State University

On Wednesday February 17, I’ll be performing at Kennesaw State University.

That’s 8:00 P.M. at the Bailey Center. Concert is FREE. http://baileycenter.kennesaw.edu/

Joining me on this faculty concert will be violinist Helen Kim and cellist Charae Krueger. These two ladies are fantastic.

We are performing a short but powerful program, beginning with the contemplative music of Arvo Pärt, followed by the first cello Sonata of the young and rebellious Beethoven, and finally closing with the fiery Mendelssohn Trio in D minor. It’s a real tour de force for all of us.

Come and experience a solid hour of music (without intermission). Hope to see you there!

Recording debut album

‘Bout to head into the studio to record my debut album and a short video documentary.

The recording is entitled “Twelve Nocturnes and a Waltz”. It will be released in the Spring.

More details/updates to come!

Update 1: My very own Steinway D (#192) sits on stage. The movers accidentally dropped it onto my living room floor (!), but after a fresh tuning, it sounds amazing again. Recording starts tomorrow.

Update 2: Recording is complete. Now for editing.

Update 3: Got some new headshots. They’ll be released in a few weeks.

This year’s MTNA National Convention will be held in Atlanta, GA.

I’ll be presenting a Lecture/Discussion entitled: “Learning to Earning: FROM STUDENT TO PROFESSIONAL”, which will be held in the Roswell Room at the Westin Peachtree Plaza on this Saturday, March 28. We begin at 9:15 A.M.

Among the points I’ll be making is that we musicians need to elevate our own community from this funk in which we find ourselves, the self-pity, the self-deprecation. The so-called “Starving Artist” mentality has got to go. From performers to teachers, we are business-people, and we need to start acting like it.

And best wishes to those pianists participating in the National Piano Duo Competition! I see you have made it this far, which is very far indeed. I and my fellow judges are eager to experience your music-making on this Sunday.

Looking forward to meeting many of you.
